Restoring Your Innate Capacity for Health - Six Month Membership New Offering!

Applying the science of the Nervous System to foster healing, repair and resilience

Six Months of Experiential Group Learning and Practice with Micaela and Liz: $750

We’re thrilled to announce our newest offering at OCC, Restoring Your Innate Capacity for Health! This is a six month group membership that stems from rich scientific research related to our evolutionary biology (with a focus on Polyvagal Theory) and the profound influence we have on our gene expression.

In order to fully appreciate the far-reaching benefits of this membership, it’s recommended that you first attend our webinars Removing Obstacles to Healing (a prerequisite for all OCC patients, offered at no cost!) and Harnessing Your Power to Heal. Note: If you attend Harnessing Your Power to Heal and decide to sign on for Restoring Your Innate Capacity for Health, your registration fee will be applied to the cost of membership.

We invite you to read a bit more about each of the webinars (including links to relevant studies) to get a feel for the myriad ways this membership might benefit you. What we’ve come to understand is that the wisdom of Polyvagal Theory is applicable to absolutely everyone, no matter where you are on the spectrum of health and illness. We also encourage you to learn more about common symptoms of Nervous System Dysregulation and whether or not this applies to you, and to what degree, on our website as well.

Membership Description:

This six-month membership will guide you along a deep inner exploration; one that introduces you to and helps you to become intimately familiar with your autonomic nervous system, its states, and your own unique personal patterns. We’ll travel together along a five-stage journey of healing, each one providing a foundation for the next. Each of these stages begins with education (once per month) and includes two weeks of group practice, guidance and support for how to apply what you’re learning in your own day-to-day life.

Here, we’ll have the opportunity to ask questions; share breakthroughs and challenges; and give and receive encouragement - which is, in and of itself, a significant opportunity for physical healing (as you will soon learn)! Within the group, we’ll seek to facilitate playful, engaging interactions as well as deeply authentic conversations, designed to foster our capacity for empathy and meaningful connection - all in a space that feels safe, caring and compassionate. Once per month we’ll have a week off to allow for further integration and exploration at home.

At the end of this six-month group experience, you’ll have acquired a whole new language for understanding the biology of your autonomic nervous system and how it's influencing your health as well as your thoughts, emotions, motivations, behaviors and relationships (all below the level of conscious awareness). From this point forward, you’ll have an entirely new way of relating to yourself and others, with greater wisdom, clarity and insight. Most importantly, you'll have a new set of tools for influencing your biology toward healing - physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and socially.

This membership is valuable for anyone wishing to achieve optimal health and is appropriate no matter where you fall on the spectrum of wellness to illness. It’s designed to complement to our other 6-month membership plans and can be started at the same time or pursued separately. (We may recommend you start your functional medicine journey with this program, or continue this work toward the end of it, depending on your individual needs). It’s also designed to be a comprehensive offering for prevention and healing, independent of our other memberships as well. It’s our philosophy that this work is foundational to healthy living, and we wholeheartedly believe in its ability to shift our biology toward conditions of health, growth and restoration.

The key to success with this program involves the time you make for practice in between sessions. The real magic of Polyvagal Theory is what happens when these principles are applied consistently (with self-compassion, patience and persistence), over time. However, the rewards are enduring and profoundly worthwhile!

Descriptions of Origins Collaborative Care Offerings

Prerequisite Webinar

Removing Obstacles to Healing - open to the public at no cost!

This 90-minute lecture describes the science on which we base our model of care and is a prerequisite for your Functional Medicine Intake.

Registration link below.

We know people achieve their best outcomes when they really understand the biological underpinnings at the root of their health concerns. We can’t change what we’re unaware of, and no behavior change is sustainable when we don’t fully appreciate and understand the “whys” and the “hows.” Healing requires you to be an informed participant in your care at every level. Your commitment is essential, and we aren't likely to commit to something we don’t understand or fully appreciate in terms of importance.

Removing Obstacles to Healing is the first of a two-part series about the Autonomic Nervous System's role in health and illness.

This is an in-depth look at the physiological impacts of chronic stress and how certain autonomic nervous system states can inhibit the body's biological capacity for health, growth and restoration.

At OCC we're also passionate about prevention, and this course is equally valuable for understanding how to harness your body's innate protective mechanisms in order to prevent disease and experience not only longevity but health and vitality.

In this 90-minute educational presentation, Jessica and Micaela will share the science demonstrating how chronic stress, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and developmental trauma (including insecure attachment) can cause myriad health consequences including GI dysfunction, immune dysregulation, chronic inflammation, cognitive impairment, sleep disturbances, endocrine imbalances, mast cell activation and more. For many, these underlying root cause factors are what helped to "set us up" for developing chronic illness in the first place.

For everyone with complex chronic illness, these are contributing factors that are inhibiting our body's ability to heal. This is why we've made this prerequisite learning for all OCC patients. Likewise, we need to share a common language and a common understanding in order for your treatment plan to be successful.

At OCC we know that failing to address nervous system dysregulation will undermine even the very best attempts to heal chronic illness with external interventions. This is an in-depth look at how, due to a variety of influences, the Autonomic Nervous System can be a root cause of complex chronic illness -- but also a powerful intervention toward restoring our innate and ever-adaptable capacity for healing and vitality.

This is why we've made this prerequisite learning for all OCC patients. Beyond that, we feel this information is so important to public health (in both preventing and healing illness), we've decided to offer this education to you at no cost. We want as many people as possible to experience the myriad health benefits that understanding this biology can offer.

We hope that once you've seen this lecture, you'll join us for the second lecture in this series, Harnessing Your Power to Heal. We highly recommend you attend both lectures in order to fully appreciate the intricate dance between our nervous systems, our hormones, and our immune systems, and how these relate to restoring wellness! In this 90-minute presentation, we explore evidenced-based opportunities for how we can apply the understanding of Polyvagal Theory to help us move forward on a trajectory of healing.

Open Office Hours

Mondays, 5:30-7:00pm

Open Office Hours was designed to offer you the feel of a personalized office visit -- at a much lower cost -- while having an opportunity to share the experience with your peers!

For those of you who are new to Jessica and Micaela's care, this is an excellent way to “get to know” us in a fun, informal and informative way!

We know from experience that many people seeking solutions to their health challenges from a Functional Medicine approach have very similar questions (with very similar answers)! This is because inflammatory and immune-mediated conditions tend to show up in very predictable patterns. Even though it’s common to feel isolated and alone in what we’re experiencing - we have far more in common with the growing number of chronic illness sufferers than we likely ever realized. This includes the myriad influences that caused these conditions to develop, as well as how they’re manifesting as symptoms for us, now. Though it’s true that we’re all unique, what we see again and again is that there’s a series of patterns and presentations that are really quite universal.

Come use this opportunity to have an “office visit” that benefits us all! We believe Open Office Hours will evolve to be one of the most fun and nurturing experiences of OCC!

Open Office Hours will be hosted by Jessica and/or Micaela - and Liz will join us sometimes, too! While we can’t guarantee that every question received will be answered on the following Monday, we’ll make every effort to address all inquiries in a thoughtful and comprehensive manner that offers the greatest benefit to all.

These Zoom sessions are open to every OCC Member, and no registration is required. Questions are to be submitted via the Patient Portal.

Functional Medicine Intake

The beginning of your Origins Collaborative Care journey is a complex, comprehensive overview - that includes an extremely thorough look at your history and where you are now - so that we can begin to identify the most accurate and direct path for returning you to a state of wellness.

One of the ways OCC differs from others in Functional Medicine is the practice of having two lead providers collaborating on your care from the very outset, blending two very unique and well-rounded perspectives. Jessica brings her healthcare background, training and knowledge. Micaela brings the invaluable perspective of a long-term complex chronic illness patient - one who has found her way back to health. The value of our combined experience is evident in every one of our patient-centered interactions. Together, we’re a tour de force when it comes to wise, compassionate, patient-centered care.

In order to benefit optimally from this team, an investment of your time is required. At home, you'll be asked to complete lengthy, detailed questionnaires that will create a visual timeline of your history (full disclosure: this can take between 3 and 6 hours, depending on your health history and age). This is an important tool for identifying important antecedents, triggers, and mediators that have influenced your health, and will also serve as a record from which to measure shifts in your healing trajectory.

In order to make the best use of your time and efforts, Jessica will review your entries and your medical records (90+ minutes) prior to the intake visit.

During the 60-minute interactive portion of your intake with Jessica and Micaela, we’ll delve deeper into your case with time for questions and answers (in both directions) in order to further assess the state of your nervous system, your immune system, and your overall health. Immediately after meeting with you, Micaela and Jessica will continue brainstorming to develop your comprehensive, personalized treatment recommendations. Together with Functional Medicine Health Coach Liz Gelotte, we'll create a plan for how best to apply them in the context of your life and health.

In the two weeks following your intake visit, you’ll have two meetings with Liz. At these visits, Liz will inform you of our recommendations, answer your questions, and help you assess how to best implement the treatment plan in your day-to-day life. In this dynamic collaboration, Liz will help you to design an approach that feels actionable and achievable based on opportunities and potential obstacles you’ve identified together as a team.

You’ll appreciate Liz’s relaxed and easygoing nature, which is known for putting people at ease. Highly approachable, compassionate and skilled in her coaching style, you and Liz will work together to develop an outline for the next six months, with ongoing opportunities to revise and adjust as the need arises.

Follow-Up Functional Medicine Visits

45-minute face-to-face visits with Jessica are where she assesses and adjusts your personalized treatments to optimize your healing trajectory. Jessica, known for her compassionate style and abiding respect for her patients and their perspectives, begins each visit by meeting you where you are and being fully present and attentive to you and your individual needs. Jessica listens deeply to you and your experience of care in order to tap into the language of your body and its subtle messages. She carefully tracks changes, leverages research, and consults with the OCC team so that your treatment plan moves forward in a way that reflects the care you deserve -- and an approach designed specifically for you.

Mind-Body Visits

Two 45-min Mind-Body visits with Micaela. These appointments will offer strategic guidance in the realms of your specific mental, emotional, spiritual, social and behavioral health needs. Goals for these sessions will include identification and prioritization of healing approaches, as well as experiential learning so that you can continue to apply these life-giving techniques at home.

Micaela’s work is informed by a combination of neuroscience, psychoneuroimmunoendocrinology, ancient wisdom traditions, energy medicine & energy psychology, Polyvagal Theory, somatic healing approaches and other modalities that integrate mind and body to promote healing and repair.

In any given appointment you will be met with the rigor of a scientific mind combined with the highly attuned and responsive intuition of a gifted and loving healer.

Individual Coaching Sessions

Behavior change is extremely challenging, especially so when we’re fatigued, stressed, and overwhelmed. A treatment plan is only effective if it’s successfully implemented and sustainable. If knowing “what” to do were enough, most of us would be making very different lifestyle choices. Liz Gelotte’s science-based methods help to reveal your deepest motivations and mine the depths of your own inner resources to help you create lasting change. Liz has tremendous compassion for and dedication to her clients, who feel like they have a true companion and wise friend accompanying them on their journey. She’s one of OCCs most valuable resources because her work is what transforms the guidance you’ll be given into approachable steps for integrating these essential changes into your day-to-day life.

Some people will prefer to utilize the 45 minute appointments with Liz to deepen their understanding of the Functional Medicine treatment approach and their treatment plan in particular. Liz is a resource for education in this department since she has worked alongside Jessica for years, and has read many of the books that inspire the OCC treatment model and plans.

Urgent Functional Medicine Visits

This short visit type (20 mins) is reserved for members who require prompt problem solving between Functional Medicine Follow-Up visits with Jessica. If an issue comes up that is not appropriate to address at Open Office Hours, it may require an Urgent Visit. Please call our receptionist for scheduling.

OCC's Initial Research Pilot Cohort

In November 2021, OCC is launching a six-month pilot study with an initial cohort of patients. The objectives of this pilot are threefold: to assess and refine OCC’s model of care, to better understand the key improvement levers on the patients’ journey, and to obtain preliminary data on the model’s effectiveness that we will use to pursue future grants and research collaborations.

Click here to learn more about our research initiative.

If interested in participating, please email pilot@originscollaborativecare.com to learn more about the program and pricing.

It’s important to understand that the time spent together with any one of the OCC providers represents a mere fraction of the time that will be spent on your case. The bulk of this work is what happens in between appointments -- which includes you and the efforts you make at home as well as the behind-the-scenes work of the providers to whom you’ve entrusted your care.
